Since my last update of Free AVG yesterday, I rebooted and I noticed
that there was no icon in the System tray. When I opened the System
Tray icon from the program list and 2clicked on it, the message
first came up - initialising components, swiftly followed by 'no
active components (normally, the resident Antivirus scan appears).
I'm not too worried about the email scanner (ZoneAlarm has its own
program) but concerned that I don't seem to have any AV program
running.
I tried to download a new copy of the program, first from AVG's own
site, but when I tried to install this, I got the message that 'the
file is corrupt', then from the CNET site, but that seems not to be
downloading.
Anyone else had this problem?

Have you checked in Task Manager on the processes tab to see if there are
any avg processes running?
I have avgwdsvc.exe, avgtray.exe, aAVGApi.exe, avgemc.exe, avgrsx.exe
running at the moment.,
