Crumbs, with a site that big you need to bone up on template systems andI originally had 3 totally separate web sites:-
includes, or migrate to some kind of CMS (content managemet system).
And what's all that stuff in the meta section of the index page that
seems to be linking to
http://www.freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com?
One for genealogy, hosted on Rootsweb.
One for history, hosted on my personal web pages, and
One for computing, which was my own business site.
As I added more pages, the History site grew to be too big for my personal web site, so I combined that with genealogy on Rootsweb.
When I decided to retire, I included some of the computer pages there also before closing down the site.
Hence one large site all hosted on Rootsweb. That still exists at <http://freepages.rootsweb.ancesry.com/~wakefield/> and is well used by the Rootsweb community via their internal search engine.
When they had problems with servers I decided to get a backup site on 110mb.com.
I use that as my main site now because it carries no advertising.
The Rootsweb one automatically inserts banners at the top and bottom of every page. However, being a free unlimited site, that is no problem.
Rootsweb supports includes but 110mb doesn't.
I do have templates to create basic pages, but only on my computer not on the servers.
I've yet to find a CMS that I feel comfortable using.
