As I said in Tuesday's GMT, I went for a checkup at the doctor Tuesday afternoon. Among other things, I asked him about a terrible purplish mark which seems to be spreading out above my knee and looks like a large bruise. I can't remember hurting myself there and the doctor said it didn't look like a bruise because it was "lacy-looking" or looked like latticework. He said that bruises don't look like that.

I was upset because the doctor seemed to think it was very strange looking. I figured I had a strange disease. (g)

Finally, as we finished talking about other things, I asked again, "What do you think that mark could be?" The doctor thought a few seconds and pondered a bit. Then he said, almost to himself, "It looks like a burn."

That's when I realized what it was! It must be a burn from the heat of my laptop as I hold it on my lap. I often do that and I often feel the heat. So I keep moving the laptop around so it won't bother me, as I sit back in my recliner.

It's such a relief to find out what that wierd looking mark is. I've got a wooden tray under my laptop now to prevent getting burned again.

I wonder if anyone else has ever had that happen to them.

I don't know about burns on legs, but I do seem to recall a couple of years ago a news article about a businessman who suffered burns (to his "bits") which was attributed to a laptop.

Laptops have been blamed for fertility problems in men for a while.
(Various reasons: from playing games on them but also caused by heat)
