either for some time. Tried the repair job, and it told me there
were some entries in my hosts file that may be interfering with
messenger. Now when I try to exit it, I'm getting the error message
"There are other applications currently using features provided by
Windows Messenger, You must close these other applications before
you can exit Windows Messenger. These applications may include
Outlook, Outlook Express, MSN Explorer and Internet Explores". I
don't recollect having ever seen that one before. :(
Just for clarification, I managed to access messenger using a version 4.7
(4.7.3001) installation I have, about ½ hour ago, but not anymore. My
version 8.1 (Build8.1.0178.00) hasn't been able to sign in all day. And
just prove me a liar I have just tried it at 16:35:50 and got access
straight away. Somebody is playing silly bu&&&&s methinks. I was getting
Error code 80048439 up 'til then.
