Giving out email addresses on private domain names as you intend doing
could very well throw up this problem as you have no idea which ISP's
they use.
The intention is that they will send the email via that domain, that's why
I asked if you can select the "from" address in OE. When you select the
address it does identify the host that address is associated with, I just
hope it is intelligent enough to use it. I use Barca 2 and previously used
TheBat! and they both used the proper transport for the "From" address. I
appreciate that doesn't guarantee that OE will, I am living in hope :-)
It has nothing to do with the email application. It's the ISP that is
blocking port 25 for anything other than it's own hosted domains.
They don't all do it but BT certainly does. I've had this issue with
loads of my clients trying to use their own domain name to send email
using Bt Internet.
You have 2 options, get the ISP to set up a mail relay for your domain
name, in which case you have to prove to them it is your domain name, or
change the SMTP port to something other than 25. For what you are doing,
option 2 is the only one you have.
