Got a date tomorrow afternoon

With the person who is going to connect me to the interweb thingy :-)

The apartment block is fitted with cable, so I have gone down the easy route
and decided to have phone, telly stuff and internet in one package.
Was getting a bit concerned cos a couple of the people who run rond the same
wheel as Mr Boo said it has taken a while to get the connection. So, I rang
today to see what they would say to a Boo. Took a while to get through, but
eventually I got a nice young lady . Told her I want the full package and
said I could live without phone and telly for a while, but internet access
was 'vital' LOL

No problem, someone will come and do it tomorrow between 12 and 4 :-))

Bit concerned cos the bumf on their website mentions an installation cd -
and I aint having that on my machine without a fight <g> Will see what
happens and maybe flutter my eyelashes a bit. It 'should' just plug in and
let me play! I don't want/need any special help with their email or other
stuff - I have email, prolly wont ever go on their website, don't want any
of the 'special offers' on antivirus or firewalls. Just want a net
connection ta!
Deal includes a cable modem and I bought a router today ( yes, before anyone
asks - especially my favourite lurker - I did make sure they knew it was to
be suitable for a cable connection)

Also bought a printer/scanner . The young man asked if I had a usb cable -
ermm, I have about a dozen of the damn things, in a box in the cupboard
above the fridge - in a small village in England!
So bought a usb cable too <g>

Oh and I aint paid a penny, I pay the first month's money to whoever comes
to sort it, then I pay online each month - no contract, just pay each month
and it does what it should - I hope.
The price is about the same here as at home for the telly stuff, ditto for
the phone - though I have had a package that gives me free local and long
distance calls in Canada and the US and 1000 mins of calls to the UK each
month. ( that's about a couple of weeks worth of talking to my babies LOL)
Connection speed should be about 10Mb, I will get dizzy LOL, best I get at
home is around 1Mb cos our exchange is two bean cans and a bit of string and
we are a long way away from it.

Mr Boo bought a telly today, I started off trying to be interested but when
the young man started talking about 'enhanced viweing experiences' I lost
the will to live and went off to get my printer LOL. I imagine that it will
be as brokted as the one at home anyway it only seems have the sports
channel functioning <g>

Wont be able to move in proper till the weekend, the beds that were supposed
to be in stock by Wed are not going to be there till the end of the week. So
will be here in the hotel for a few days yet. I'm not really moaning, I am
quite chuffed that in 3 weeks I have found somewhere to live, equipped and
furnished it and got the stuff like phone and net connection sorted. I don't
know what I would have done without a poota though, things would have moved
a lot more slowly.
I can look and see where the different shops are, find out how to get to
them, compare prices - all in advance, it really has helped enormously.

And I don't accept that many people would have to "spend lots of money" listening to Internet radio, because people subscribe to the Internet anyway, and the packages available these days: http://www.top10-broadband.co.uk/compare/home_broadband/ shows that broadband with sufficiently high download caps is inexpensive, and I would say that the percentage of people who would have to upgrade their package just because of their Internet radio listening will be low. ...
