Our first job must be to persuade the FA that the England team needs
an English Manager/coach...

Well the MK Dons seem to have one like this, but is there an English company that make coaches any more?

Yes. :)

Alexander were an old-established Scottish coacbuilder, specialising in bus and coach bodies and based in Falkirk with a large coachworks also in Belfast. Belfast did/do touring coach bodies which is why so many coaches have NI registrations.

Historically, Dennis are probably best known for their fire engines. Their fire engines were great. Their buses less so. They are notoriously unreliable. Lothian Buses here started buying Dennis chassis when Leyland went out of business with the intention of eventually running an all Dennis fleet. This was a very long-term aim as they expect a bus to have a life of 16 - 18 years. There are still quite a lot of Leyland Olympians running in Edinburgh and probably another five years or so to go before they are finally phased out. However the Dennis replacements were so awful that Lothian Buses were forced to re-think and are now buying in more expensive Volvo chassis instead. I don't think there are any other British manufacturers left.

I know that they recently took over Plaxtons coach and bus builders at Scarborough. They are well known for making buses in the North of England. <http://www.plaxtonlimited.co.uk/plaxton/index.html>
A friend of mine collects old vehicles and has at least one of the Dennis ones that was converted to a breakdown truck.
