I've been reading the FAQs for Nationwide's Verified by Visa service.

It includes ths advice on picking passwords:

We recommend you choose something that's easy for you to remember and
difficult for others to guess. It must be between 8-15 characters,
and include at least two numbers and two letters, one of which must
be uppercase and one lower case.

This is for a password that you will need to input while shopping
online, and you may need to make it up while online part-way through
a purchase transaction, if you haven't read the FAQs and prepared in
advance.. Easy for me to remember?
That would need to be something I learnt years ago - I can't remember
new stuff easily anymore.

Difficult for others to guess?
That rules out date of birth, phone nunber, mothers maiden name, NI
number, pet's name, first car registration, and just about everything
that's easy for me to remember.

Must include at least 2 numbers - that others can't guess, but I can
remember.
and at least one upper case and one lower case letter.
Not starting with the capital letter would be good too.
8-15 characters: rules out most single words, but a bit short for a
sentence.

Didn't mention punctuation.

Or I could just let Password Safe generate a random string that fits
the requirements, and rely on it to remember the password for me.

How would you pick a password? (Don't tell me too much detail, I
might want to steal your identity. :^)

How about your Dad's/Mum's dob with x thousand added
eg
17Mar1901 + (say)5000 = 17Mar6901

or a memorable footie result,
eg
Gers0Hibs1 :-))
Ah, yes, I'll remember it well. :-))

SUFC4SWFC0 sounds good to me. :)
