I down loaded the demo of Acronis True Image 10 which Michaelangelo
recommended and that seemed to work well. I booted from the rescue CD and
tried to create an image when it worked right up to the stage of saving
the image and then stopped saying I needed to get the full version to do
that! So I bought the full version, Acronis are doing it at $49.99 for
down-load (plus VAT again). I installed it over the top of the demo,
created another rescue CD, booted from that and created an image no
problems. Just the acid test now, restoring it, I'll see if I'm brave
enough tomorrow :-)
I've used Acronis (version 8 I think) to back up the 4 partitions on my
main drive for quite a long time now. Purely out of interest (when I
installed a 2nd hard drive) I used the Acronis backups to copy all the old
partitions over to the new drive. It was totally successful and I was even
able to boot up from two of the partitions into XP and Vista without having
to re-install them:-)
