If you do anything important on your computer, consider a dual-boot.
Set up Windows twice,on two partitions. Keep one clean - essential
programs only. Enjoy yourself on the other one. When it gets clogged
up, wipe it and reinstall - this becomes your new clean partition. The
point is, you can do this at your leisure, not in a panic with a
deadline looming :-)

None of this is much use for people without proper Windows disks, only
proprietary restore systems from hidden partitions etc. But for those
of us who take an active interest in computing, it's a good system.
