There's obviously a tradition here of announcing updates to AVG,
AD-Aware...
Fine. Carry on. No skin off my nose :-)
oh god cos that hurts. Like when you have a cold and blow your nose a
LOT. First it goes red then it goes shiny and dry and the skin peels
off, I don't like that much :-(
But why?
Are you sitting comfortably ? :-) Then I'll begin ..
Traditions may seem silly, but usually they start and carry on, for a
good reason. Long time ago, in another place, there were a group of
people most of whom were brand new to things pootery - like what I was .
They weren't daft, just starting to learn new skills and finding their
way together, helping each other along all chipping in the bits they
knew to share.
They were so new at this stuff that they were only vaguely aware of the
nasties, like viruseses and trojans , so the ones who knew a little
about firewalls and antivirus used to post up about updates. Partly to
remind people to update but partly to sort of advertise that its a 'good
idea' to take a bit of care. Gradually the people who weren't aware,
stared to find out about it and use these programs. I even got a star
for being 'sensible'! Now there's a first <g>
These days the regulars in here know about and use AV progs and
firewalls, but there may be someone lurking who is at the starting
stage. They too can learn if they want , but maybe not if its not
mentioned.
rofl, well you 'did' ask!
Welcome to ups btw, love the name :-)
