What (model) Mac book would one need to run Photoshop
on successfully?

Any of them!
:-)

The ordinary MacBook (with a 13.3 Inch, 1280 x 800 Pixel Screen)
has an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor which can handle any modern Program
easily & well.

It has (now) 1 GB RAM as standard & that can be Upgraded (at purchase
or later) very easily & cheaply, cos the RAM Modules are standard
SODIMMS I got 2 GB of RAM for my Apple MacBook for about 70 Quid from
Crucial Technology (& I now have (the original) 1 GB - 2 x 512 MB
spare as well! - Cos I bought a Matched pair of SODIMMS, so as to
make best use of the Dual Channel Memory features

They also, (now) have bigger Hard Disks in them than they originally
were supplied with.

You can buy (& very easily fit, cos they just slide in & out)
an even bigger Hard Disk (up to 200 GB), if you want, relatively
cheaply, cos they are standard 2.5 Inch SATA Hard Drives.

& they work with USB (& FireWire) External Hard Disks as well.
You can get a 500 GB External Hard Disk for less than 80 Quid
these days.

& they will work with an External Display, if you want a bigger Screen.

The MacBook *Pro* (which is a different thing from the MacBook)
will do all that the MacBook can do & is (basically) "bigger &
better & faster" (& more expensive) - for example, they have
a dedicated Graphics Card in them (which can help with 3D Accelerated
games & things, but isn't any great advantage for PhotoShop) & they
have FireWire *800* as well as FireWire 400.

BUT...
What Version of PhotoShop are you talking about?

Remember, Adobe have only just released the properly Intel Native
Version of PhotoShop (CS3) for the Apple Macs- & that's very
expensive (if you buy a Legit, Licensed Version, in the UK).

Previous Versions of it (PhotoShop) *aren't* "Intel Native".
Which means they have to Run using the "Rosetta" Emulation thingy.

But even so, the Apple MacBooks & MacBook Pros, using an Intel Core
2 Duo Processor (with a decent amount of RAM), they Run PhotoShop fine.
