It was something to do with the filters I had set in Dialog, John.
I've now re-written them so that there's one filter for one action rather than trying to combine them.
Seems to be working OK at the moment but just to be on the safe side I'm checking SilverSurfers in Firefox from NIN with no filters set at all, while Dialog is checking the PlusNet news server.
