I only used webmail once in November.
Just a couple of months ago I convinced a friend to sign up for
a dial up account, he's never used web mail but he's had the spam.
According to announcement at the head of the thread, being sent
mail by someone using the webmail interface is sufficient, as is
being in such a person's online addressbook - so it's not just PN
subscribers who will suffer from the breach.

& unfortunately, once an eMail Address is on *any* spammers List,
then it's like letting a "Genie out of the Jar" - or a "Cat out of
the Bag"
:-(

It's completely *impossible* to ever get that Address (& variations
on it) off all the various spammers Lists.
It will not only be *Sent* spam, but will also be used as the
"From:" Address of spam & will very rapidly be spread around.
:-(

Hi,

Using the addresses in the 'From' header is going to be a pretty futile exercise to be honest and I'd be surprised if this particular spammer went down that route.

Think about it. Whoever's sending these emails is likely to have paid somebody for the list, probably at a nice price too. It's clear from the content of the emails that they're spamming for financial gain to and not just to be a nuisance.

They know most of the email addresses are valid so don't need to 'guess' at domains. If they used these valid addresses to send from then it's more likely that users would be plagued by failed delivery reports and in many cases change their address. This would render the list somewhat useless.

Kind Rgds,
