My internal virus database is out of date, and I'm having a job
to know what to click on to sort it out.

When I click on Update, I get a message saying it's been timed out.
I've been onto www.grisoft.com and there are lists of Priority,
Recommended and Optional updates but I don't know what to click on.

Help

Well that was odd, and when I saw pmj say the Firewall could be
blocked,

Well, what I meant was that the AVG Update thingy might be being
Blocked by the Firewall, not that the Firewall was being Blocked!
:-)

I checked, and it was blocked. Which is weird, cos I certainly
haven't changed it - I wouldn't know how for a start lol.
That's a bit of a mystery

What prolly happenned, was that there was a *Program* Update for
the AVG available - in the last few days - & you *did* accept that
& Install it?

If so, your Firewall would prolly (if it was any good) have noticed
that a "new"/different (as far as it was concerned), Program was
trying to Access the Internet & so it Blocked it - it may have shown
some sort of Prompt (depending on how you have the Firewall Options
Set) & you *should* (if you were using it properly) have chosen to
Block it, if you didn't know what it was (too many people Allow stuff,
when they don't know what it is, rather than Blocking it until they
know what it is), so, since the AVG Update thingy has got an Executable
FileName that isn't immediately obvious to everybody what it is & the
"more details" stuff that those sort of Prompts have available, (if you
Click the Link or Press the Button) usually makes people's eyes glaze
over, so they don't usually bother with that), you prolly just Blocked
it.

Ta lots to ItsMe, FN and pmj.

Glad you got it sorted out OK.
