Problems connecting to my new laptop with 3coms wireless router

Hi
Please excuse this question and also if there is already a posting
for it as I cant seem to be able to find it. Also my problem may be
very basic but please feel free to help me wherever you can!
I have just bought a Acer Aspire 9301 aws laptop pre installed with
windows vista home premium.
I had previously bought another acer laptop but due to other
problems had to send it back for refund. During our time with the
first laptop we were able to connect to the internet via a 3com
officeconnect wireless 11g firewall router serial number
3crwdr100a-72. This had been connected to the laptop and worked
perfectly well.
However now that I have changed computers I am now unable to
reconnect to the internet I have all three power,sync and WLAN LED's
on but no online LED. Do I have to reset this laptop up again to get
the router working? The laptop detects other wireless networks in the
area but not mine I feel I am missing something really basic but cant
see what it is. When we first set the router up on the first laptop it
asked for several passwords and other info which we gave but this
time we cant even get on to that website/screen to do that!! Perhaps
rather naively I thought we would be able to just connect up and away
we go but alas not at the moment.
Sorry if this seems a little pointless and very basic but I really
am at a loss as to what to do as we cant get on to the internet via
the laptop and is very frustrating!!
Any help advice would be very gratefully recieved.
