But ....... Isn't the sytem in place, whereby, everybody 'must'No idea ( not yet old enough to receive one, so haven't looked too
pay into the system and everybody 'benefits' from the system ?
Fair enough, you can opt out of NHS services, but can you opt out
of receiving a state pension ?
closely) but have no doubt that it can be done, even if it meant
sending the money back - which is within everyone's capability. (
Number 11 Downing Street would prolly take it )
Can you opt out of paying into the state pension system and can you
opt out of paying into the state health system - answer is no on
all counts.
No, I didn't suggest you could and nor would I, its a good system and
means that everyone 'can' get a benefit if they need it 'or' think
they should claim it cos they paid in. I believe that our taxes/ N.I.
also enitle us to claim unemployment benefit if we are not gainfully
employed or sickness benefit if we are not well enough to be
employed. I have been 'entitled' to claim many times but have never
actually done so cos I didn't 'need' it. My choice, its the having
the choice that makes the difference though. Would you be happy if
the guy on #22 million claimed statutory sick pay or unemployment
benefit if he was temporarily unemployed? He's entitled to it but I
bet it would raise your blood pressure about 20 points ! LOL
Kinda getting away from the OP ..... Is one man worth #22m ?
lol
As for asking John#8 ........... You HAVE to be joking
;-)))) lol
Roflmo, no, on a good day, when the wind is in the right
direction, he is very eloquent on the subject and does talk a
lot of sense. <Boo licks her finger and sticks it up in the air
to test the direction of the wind - yep! should be ok atm ..... >
I do hope you are right on that finger licking test lol ;-)
John#8 is entertaining, a bit off the wall at times, but please don't
make the mistake of thinking he is always like that, there's a lot
more to him than loopiness, he is a very intelligent and caring man -
just tries to hide it :-)
There was a case like that back in the 80's, Boo.
When Carnation was taken over by Nestle the board of Carnation were
paid off handsomely (for that time). One of the directors received a
pay off of half a million pounds. The very next day he signed on at his
local DHSS office and claimed unemployment benefit because he was
entitled to it.
It was to stop those kind of anomolies that the rules governing
unemployment benefit were changed shortly afterwards to take account of
an individual's savings/investments.
