I didn't think the contribution by USA and China existed never mind being
* not very significant* India is also going through an industrial growth
period and again (from what I've read) not doing anything about *Global
Warming* UK is a very small fish amongst those and I can't see how our
contribution ( if at all needed) would mean more than throwing a cube of
sugar in the Atlantic and claiming that we made the sea less salty.

I meant that their contribution to actual global warming isn't significant
on a global scale, not their contribution to fixing it. Yes, the Chinese
are building coal-fired power stations at the rate of about one a week but
even so, the net effect is very tiny compared with natural sources and the
sun-earth natural cycle. Many people have been hoodwinked by the greedy
governments' so-called expert soothsayers, but if we keep things in
proportion we can see that a few factory chimneys more or less ain't going
to make a ha'porth of difference come the end of the century. It's going to
be hot hot hot!

And I can't accept that taxes will do any good either. Particularly since
they charge more to fly first class. I'm not an aeroplane expert but if a
plane is flying anyway with a first class cabin why paying more tax will
make any difference to the total emissions from that plane. The basic tax
though might however prevent a young working family from taking their kids
abroad on a holiday but it won't stop the MPs.

Absolutely right. There's no easier way for the treasury to fill their
coffers than to tax something that people can't/won't do without and all in
the the name of ecological necessity.

Just like the speed camera fiasco, the government 'experts' continue to
find new ways to bleed us dry.

And they always will, no matter what flavour of government :-(

Which is why I find it incredibly difficult to motivate myself to go and
vote. The two main parties are equally duty-bound to be a dead loss. The
fringe parties have no experience at 'governing' and are therefore only ever
an also-ran.
