Now to be serious. Are you the author of these stats.Ali?
What a prodigious job!How do you do it (if it's not a trade secret).
I am amazed and would like to learn more if poss.

If you check the source of any of the stats pages you should see the line
<meta name="generator" content="Ali's PostingStats Maker V2.0">
That's what does the clever stuff, I just load the pages to my.web.pages.

"Ali's PostingStats Maker V2.0" is a collection of Perl scripts and DOS batch files, developed over the last four years.
One script takes the raw data downloded and stored by my newsreader and counts all the authors, threads and times of posting, and saves the summarised data to a file. A second script takes *that* data and writes it, and various other information calculated from it, to the three HTML pages. A third program toatals the data for the year, and a fourth program writes *that* to HTML. A batch file copies the raw data to a safe place (first) and runs all the scripts for each group I provide stats for. Then I update the index page, and ftp the whole lot to my.web.pages,
update my sig., and post that the new stats are available.

I have a few more pages planned for when I have time to implement them.

That is most impressive,Ali, and way beyond me.
I went straight from Basic on my Sinclair Z80 to
Windows 3.1 on my first desktop thereby sidestepping
all the brainy stuff.After a brief flirtation with Linux Mandrake
Bill Gates has had me in his clutches ever since.Thanks for
the information.
