I dont know what is wrong, no response from my NM I will try
just once more.

But all the other times, there *was* a response...
The actual Call was getting through OK (& so was my Acceptance)
cos the Program said "in a Call" - however, for some reason
or other, the TextChat thingy wasn't working, neither was the
Desktop & Application thingy, or the Whiteboard (or the File
Transfer)
:-(

They all said "not in a Call".

Same here, also chat said "not active"

I know you don't use the Speakers or Microphone, so I couldn't
do anything other than hang up & call again & then let you Call
again.

I did several times with the same results :-)

Yep & (as you saw) I also Called you several times, with the same
results.

Each time, (ragardless of whether you were calling me or I was
Calling you) the Call Request(s) were getting through Ok & were
being answered, but the additional Services (Text Chat, WhiteBoard,
Application/Desktop Sharing & File Transfer) weren't working.
:-(

My (carefully) considered Opinion & Diagnostic report is...

You must have Brokted it.
:-)

After careful consideration I agree :-)
I will remove it and try a reinstall.

I don't actuall ythink that will Help.
(See below)

Gissa shout sometime (maybe tomorrow?) when you have had a bit
of a Fiddle & made it Fixted again.

Sorry for persisting with this

No, don't be sorry!

You *need* to persist with it, otherwise you won't get it to work
properly (like it was the other timers we have used it) & you won't
be able to use it!

... but I tried everything I could think of including resetting
the rules in the modem and grc showed the ports as open.

Yep.
Both Ports 1720 & 1503 (the Ports used by the H323 Call Setup
Protocol that NetMeeting uses) *are* Open OK, cos the Call Signalling
(& Response) were both getting through fine.

I will try again this evening (Fri) Thanks for your help.

I won't be around this evening/night (or tomorrow evening/night),
sorry.
:-(

But I'll be around a bit over the weekend (early morning & late
afternoon).

What we didn't do (which Boo has suggested) was to Close NetMeeting
down & re-open it - that sometimes Helps.

The problem you were having is because NetMeeting uses a method where
it needs *Dynamic* Ports to be Opened - the exact Port Numbers used
are not predictable & are negotiated between the 2 NetMeeting Clients,
when the Call is Set up - it uses Ports 1720 & 1503 for the *initial*
Contact & then uses (a whole range of) *other* ports, subsequently,
for the things such as TextChat & Application/Desktop Sharing.

Those (Dynamic) Ports are normally Opened up Automatically by the
Firewall - that's what "SPI" is - Stateful Packet Inspection - it
looks at the Source & Destination IP Addresses & Ports & then allows
the return stuff (that is in direct response to that traffic) to come
back in.

So...
I reckon you need to check the Settings in the Firewall in both
the Router & the PC.

Have you changed the Router to a different one?
I think you mentioned that you had?
That may be the prob?

Try it with the previous one?

There are *some* Routers that just don't seem to work with NetMeeting,
(they can't handle the Dynamic Ports used by NetMeeting properly) but
most of them work fine. (though usually, any probs like that result
in the *Voice* part of it not working, rather than the other bits)

If you still end up with probs & it turns out that your particular
Router you are using now just doesn't work with NetMeeting, then
it might be an idea to use Skype for the Text Chat part & we can
use VNC for the Application/Desktop Sharing stuff.

HTH
