Still no luck with ftp://upload.ntlworld.com
I can't get there with the URL you've given
But that's only cos you then need to Login (using the Login Box
on the File Menu) with your UserName & PassWord...
... but I get there using the one I have always used:-
ftp://user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Which is exactly the same as the one Splodge is using, except that
the URL you use includes the UserName
user being your username, the bit that comes before @ntlworld.com
in your primary email address
But she doesn't get to the point where she *can* (or is asked to)
Enter her UserName!
:-(
Before it will open the folder you need to give your password.
But you only get to the point where you need the PassWord *after* the
UserName has been Entered!!!
& she doesn't get that far!
:-(
Pam, I just tried it using
ftp://ilove.chocolate/upload.ntlworld.com
and got an error message back.
& *what* Error Message did you get?
That won't work.
Cos you can't have a Slash "/" as part of the Host (Server) Name.
You would have got something like "Cannot find server or DNS Error"
... I assume I wasn't meant to type the "@" after my user name?
You *do* actually need the "@"!!!
That tells the URL thingy that what you are Entering is the UserName
for that Server (& not part of the Server Name)
If you want to use a URL of that form, with your UserName, then
you would use:
ftp://ilove.chocolate@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/
an error message is normal..
But it depends *what* the Error Message is!!!
With the wrong *Server* Name (as in the one Spladge says she tried
above), she will get an "Unable to Find Server" Error & not the one
which she should be getting, so as to Log in.
... Just go to file/ login as and fill in your details.
Exactly!
But you don't get the Login Option in the File Menu, until it *has*
actually established a Connection & is waiting for Authentication.
That's her prob - she isn't getting as far as that.
So we need to find out *what* is stopping it from getting to that stage.
