Then, when you have got the hang of it, you can come back & bung
some Captions on the Pages for *this* lot!
And when you do, and have added the captions, you only need to
upload the HTML files, 'cos the pictures will still be on the web
server and not have changed.
Yep!
Good point!
:-)
OK, Splodge, when are you going to Add the Captions to those Pages then?
It really is actually very easy...
Just Open up each HTML Page, for each Pic (the Pages that IrfanView
Generated) in Notepad & Edit the Line which says...
<quote>
<h4>#IMAGE_NAME#</h4>
</quote>
Where #IMAGE_NAME# is (at the moment) the FileName of the Pic,
which IrfanView Automatically put into the Page, when it wrote
the Page, using the Template.
Change #IMAGE_NAME# to whatever you want the Caption for the Pic
to be, making *very* sure not to accidentally Edit out any of the
<Angle Brackets> or the Slash (/) - that applies whenever you
Manually Edit any HTML - you need to make sure not to miss out
any of the (or include any extra) Angle Brackets or Quotes in
the HTML that is already there.
Try changing just one of the HTML Files, to begin with (having
remembered to make a Copy of it, in case of Probs) & then Open it
up in your Internet Explorer & see how the change that you make
in the HTML shows up in the Browser.
Then just Upload the *new* Version of the HTML File (just that File,
not any of the others, or any of the Pics) to the right Folder on
your WebSpace, using the FTP Server URL that you have - *Copy* it
from your PC to the FTP Server (don't *Move* it) & Click [Yes]
when it says that the File already Exists on the Server & do you
want to OverWrite the File on the Server.
& then Open the Page from up on the Web, so you can see it.
If it's screwed up, just Delete the (New) Page from the Folder on
your PC & then ReName the original (that you Copied) back to the
Original Name (make sure it's exactly the right File Name) & then
Upload (Copy) that back up to the Server, Overwriting the wrong one.
But I reckon that if you follow what I've said above & check that
it shows up OK in your Browser, viewing it on your Hard Disk, before
Uploading it, then it should be all OK.
