Apparently from what I've read in the Plusnet group if your
upstream rate is higher than 448 then you are on LLU and if you
are on LLU then the chances are high that it's Tiscali LLU.
What were you getting upstream before it went pear shaped ?

Well until my system went t**s up, the upstream data rate was
488 kbps, but now bth up and downstream are 288 kbps, so your
guess is as good as mine. :)

But didn't Sandra say "higher than" 448?
& "the chances are"?...

That would seem to imply that if it's 448, then it's not likely
to be on an LLU thing.

Isn't there an easy way to tell?
Surely, can't you just have a look at the first "Hop" on a TRACERT
or something?

That will show you the Route that things are taking (on the Internet)
& normally, the first Hop is the place at which your actual Internet
Connection is made.

The name4 of most of the Routers on the Internet usually gives some
indication as to where it is & what firm Runs it.

I would assume (but I could be wrong), that a Connection made through a
LLU thingy will have different bits in the first few Hops than one made
through a different way.

Same applies to the differences between "IPStream" & "DataStream"
Connections.

& I know that for ordinary Dial Up Connections, you could see what
Firm the actual Connection to the Internet was being made through/by

Isn't there any Information on the PlusNet Portal Site (in their
Support Pages), which explains how to find out what sort of Connection
you have?
