Hi pmj, if you are still about can you mail me at

Can you wait until tomorrow, say?

Yes thats fine, I think I have it sussed, I just wanted to try it
with an expert before using it with my grandkids.

Ah - I see, so you've got it basically Set up then (I said it was easy
to Set up, didn't I? <g> There's just a few things in the Set up Wizard
that sometimes people aren't sure about).

& it's now just a mateer of trying it out?
You'll need to make sure that you can Call out (Initiate a Call) OK
Which is not normally any problem, so long as you make sure your
Firewall doen't Block the Outgoing Connection attempt - NetMeeting
needs to have Outbound Access on TCP Ports 1720 & 1503 to be able to
make a Call.

& then you'll also need to make sure that you can *Receive* an Incoming
Call Request - that can sometimes be a little bit more problematical -
especially if you are behind a Router - you have to make sure that TCP
Ports 1503 & 1720 aren't Blocked & are "Forwarded" by the Router to
whatever PC you want to accept the Incoming NetMeeting Calls.

NetMeeting also uses some other Ports (& also uses UDP), but normally
most Firewalls & Routers will allow them, once the call is Connected OK

Don't worry *too* much if you find that yo ucan Make calls, but not
Receive them - so long as the other people you want to Contact can
Receive them it will work OK.

I have a hotmail addy, corbyone, so I will leave MSN on this evening
and would appreciate a shout if you get the chance.

Sorry - I haven't used M$N Messenger for a couple of Years now.

I mainly use Skype for that sort of thing.

Or maybe someone like Boo, or Sandra, or Noreen or Jackie or one of
the other people who are often use "The Bikesheds" - M$ NetMeeting -
could help you Set it up.

Unfortunately I dont have the contact addys for anyone at this time,
I have avoided MSN in the past but now it may be a good idea. :-))

Well, what about using Skype for the Initial Contact?
Do you have Skype?

If not, why not just try calling me on NetMeeting?

I normally have it Running most of the Time, when I have my PC on
(which is most of the time!) - if I'm around & can answer the Call
then I will.

All you need to be able to call anybody using M$ NetMeeting is their
IP Address (or a HostName which can be Resolved to an IP Address).

Mine is: voip.p-m-j.net

That's in the DNS (Domain Name Service) Records, so it resolves to my
IP Address.

BTW - I've also got that as my UserName on Skype, so you can get me
using it either on NetMeeting or on Skype

The "callto://" Protocol can also be used to start a NetMeeting Call,
(& if you have Skype & have Skype Set to be the "callto:// Protocol
Handler", then it will work with Skype as well), so you can use this
link below (if it doesn't show up as a Clickable Link, then just Copy
& Paste it into the AddressBar or Start>Run Box)...

callto://voip.p-m-j.net/

I'll be around for a little while yet, this morning (Sun 2/7/06),
before I go to bed.

HTH
