<snip>
OK...
I've just had a look at the "youtube" Site...

I Clicked the "Videos" Link (at the top of the Page) which took
me to...
http://youtube.com/browse?s=mp

Can you try that Link?
BTW - It offered a Cookie, but I chose to Block (Deny) that.
I then picked (at random) one of the Videos, from the Thumbnails
on that Page - the one called "SmackBook" & this is the Link,
try this...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6uvQTTPr9Rw&feature=Views&page=1&t=t&f=b
Again it offered some Cookies, but I denied them...
Now, (oddly enough!) it actually worked OK!
I really wasn't expecting it to (on my Machine), cos I have my Web
Filtering thing Set up to *not* Run many sorts of those "Browser
Sniffing" Scripts

BTW - when the Macromedia Player Loaded up it *did* attempt to
Run the "Macromedia Flash Updater", but I chose not to Allow that
to Run (My Firewall is Set to Block any & all Applications from
Running &/or Launching other Applications unless I explicitly allow
them to)

So, if you try that particular Page & it doesn't work for you, some
more investigation is needed!
Can you try it & Post back with exactly what happens?

Also, try this (Direct) URL/Link to the actual .SWF (ShockWave Flash)
Movie File...
http://youtube.com/player2.swf?video_id=6uvQTTPr9Rw&l=10&t=OEgsToPDskIMqF6TmRnMrm5JkEPx9Wfd

If that Plays OK, in your Browser, then that means the Version of
the Flash Player you have *is* OK.

If it doesn't work (& also if it doesn't work on the Page as well),
then it means you either need to Update your FlashPlayer or you
need to *also* check your "ActiveX Controls* settings (& not just
your Active Scripting Settings) - "ActiveX Controls" are something
different yet again!

ActiveX is what is used to actually Run the Flash Player PlugIn
in Internet Explorer.

HTH

Thanks for being so patient.

Well, these sort of probs *do* (very often) take a little bit
of "sorting out" so if you aren't reasonbly patient, then you're
not likely to get anywhere with getting it all sussed out!
:-)

I tried running the Video "Smack Book" direct from this link that
you gave me:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6uvQTTPr9Rw&feature=Views&page=1&t=t&f=b
but I could not run the video.

OK, what actually happened?
was there any Error Message or anything to indicate what was
(or was not) going on?

Then I went to
http://youtube.com/player2.swf?video_id=6uvQTTPr9Rw&l=10&t=OEgsToPDskIMqF6TmRnMrm5JkEPx9Wfd
and got a Black screen which said: "Loading".... but after a few
minutes it still said loading ,, and nothing happened.

Ah, right...
Actually if you got that Black Screen saying "Loading" (with the
Controls at the bottom of it) showing up OK, then it *was* loading
(& Playing) the .SWF File OK!
:-)

So we're getting somewhere!
:-)

Cos that Screen *is* a ShockWave Flash File (Movie) - & not an ordinary
(HTML) Web Page...

But if the Movie itself then didn't load, that was just cos that
particular URL specified the *Loader* File & the Server won't then
Send the Movie itself, when you try to Load it directly like that.

So...
We're getting somewhere!
:-)

We now need to look at the various *other* Scripting (& ActiveX)
Settings...
:-)

Cos what the (HTML) Web Page does is to Load up the ShockWave Flash
ActiveX Object & then *Control* it, using JavaScript, which means
that all the various Settings in the Internet Explorer Security Options
have to be right.
