I got OE and Newsgroups w*rking well, emails were coming in fine,

looked like an IP address in the 'incoming mail box' that *should*

address of the Desktop ?
I assume you have a router.
desktop and Laptop.
aaah, sorry, I should not have assumed LOL. That kind of connection is way
outside my experience, so treat what I said as a load of probable twaddle.
Shove up a bit and we can sit for a while and wait for a real techy to
help :-)
On second thoughts, I am falling asleep so will come back and sit or read
tomorrow.
