So, what you *actually* need to Enter into the "Start>Run" Box is
*this* Line...
cmd /k net user
Again, separate the bits with a Space
cmd [Space] /k [Space] net [Space] user
That's a "Forward Slash" (the one on the Right Hand Side of the
Keyboard), before the "k" (with no Space between the "/" & the
I never use cmd /k ... - there's an icon somewhere on the Start
menu (sorry, I've not got XP here, looks like [CMD>] ) that opens
a "Command Prompt" Window (and with a bit of tweaking in its
properties, in 'prettier' colors), without me needing to remember
the command and parameters.
Yep!
I also usually just use a Command Prompt Window (rather than the
Start>Run Box)
I have the "Command Prompt" Shortcut/Icon (which is normally in the
Accessories Section of the "All Programs" bit of the Start Menu)
"Pinned" to the Left Hand Side of the Start Menu (& also in my
QuickLaunch Bar), so I can get to it quickly, but I know many people
don't use a Command Prompt much, so I thought it might be Helpful to
give some Instructions/Hints about how to do it from the Start>Run Box.
(Bearing in mind that whether you use a Command Prompt Window directly,
or via the Start>Run Box, you'll still need to know the *actual*
Command "net" & the Parameter(s) - "user" to Enter!
:-)
Ali, when you Run that (net user) Command, (on a WinXP Machine)
does it give the Output that you would expect, with the User(s) that
are Set up on your particular Machine?
