SharpReader's user-interface is a combination of that of
a web-browser and an email program. Like a browser, it has an
address bar at the top that allows you to view a feed without
forcing you to first subscribe to it. Like an email program,
it has a familiar three-pane user-interface with subscribed
feeds on the left; item-headlines at the top-right, and
item-contents at the bottom right.

But, (like the others have pointed out) "SharpReader) like any of
the various other RSS NewsReaders, such as "FeedReader") is an *RSS*
Newsreader - RSS (Really Simple Syndication, or "Rich Site Summery)
is a way for *Web* Sites to make "feeds" available for people to see.
It's (basically & very simplistically) a way of Viewing the *Content*
of a Web Page in whatever arrangement you want - keeping the *Content*
separate from the "Presentation" (Appearance) of it.

It's nothing whatsoever to do with NNTP Newsgroups - Network News
Transfer Protocol - which is what usenet Newsgroups such as UPSS
news:uk.people.silversurfers
uses.

OK, yes, many Usenet Newsgrousp (including UPSS) *are* available
on Web Pages (such as through the Google Groups Web Interface & other
similar Sites), so yes, they can *also* be *viewed*, either on the Web,
or in an RSS NewsReader, but to actually *Post* messages to an NNTP
Newsgroup, you need an NNTP Newsreader (or, as in the case of the
Google Groups Web Site), use an "NNTP Gateway" Service.

<snip>
SharpReader makes it easy to subscribe to new feeds.

Which, remember, are (basically) *summaries* of a Web Page, which
can include Information from lots of differen tSources, including
NNTP Newsgroups.

<snip>
Can I now add uk.people.silversurfers to this program?

Yes.

BUT...
You will still only see whatever the "Gateway" Service that you use
(Google Groups or whatever) offers.

It *isn't* an actual NNTP News Reader, so you won't be Connecting
to a proper NNTP News server & you won't be able to *Post* Messages
(or Replies) directly to it.

Like the others have said, to do that, you need to use a proper
NNTP Newsreader - OutLook Express comes with windoze & can be used
for that, or you can use various other 3rd Party NNTP NewsReaders

Mozilla do one called Thunderbird, which offers eMail, access to
NNTP News Servers & also access to RSS Feeds.

To use an news reader, to Access a News server, you will need to
find a News server to Set up in the Program, for it to Connect to.

Many ISP (Internet Service Providers) offer the use of a News Server,
but a lot of ISPs these days don't, so you can either use a free News
Server or you can get an Account with an Organisation such as NIN

http://news.individual.net/

Have a look on your ISP's Help & Support Pages on their Web Site,
to see if they have an NNTP News Server you can use, or look at the
NIN Site & get an Account with them (it's only 10 Euros for a Year),
then, when you know the NNTP Server Name, (& have a UserName &
PassWord, if you need one), you can Set up the News Server in your
NNTP NewsReader, such as OutLook Express or ThunderBird
