See above, try it Connecting to it Directly using an Ethernet
Cable. & Post back with any probs you come across.

HTH

I didn't encounter any problems setting this up I had more problems
configuring my USB Wifi Dongle

Yep, which is why I (like you? & Jeff Gaines & anybody else who heard
or saw that recommendation to Set it up *initially* using the WiFi)
was surprised that the Instructions said that.

Most WiFi Routers normally say the complete *opposite*.
Yes, of course it *can* be done either way round & for people who
don't have an Ethernet Card, but have bought a USB WiFi Dongle thingy,
they *have* to do it that way, but it really is easier to do it (the
Setting up of it), in the first instance, using an Ethernet Conenction.

That way it at least takes all the complications of the WiFi stuff
out of the equation, to begin with, then, when it's up & Running OK,
you can do the WiFio stuff.

... but only because configuring the WEP was required in a couple
of places and on different dialogue boxes in the configuration
set up. Why do they do that?

Well, that depends on whether yo uare using the windoze built-in WZCSVC
(Wireless Zero Configuration Service & Utility thing, or the WiFi
DOngle Manufacturer's Utility (I know that many of the WiFi things
include their own WiFi Configuratio nUtility, which Confuzzles people
a lot, when windoze *also* has one.

The Voyager 2110 is more or less just plug and go.

Yep.
:-)

I enabled my NIC (very important)

Connected the Voyager 2110 to the telephone line via a filter
using the cable they supplied the router with rather than the one
I was using for my old USB modem.

*In theory* it shouldn't matter which one you use (an ADSL
MicroFilter is an ASDSL MicroFilter).

Bear in minfd that they *can* go wrong & cause probs, so one of the
first things to try, if you have Connection probs is to try swapping
the Filters around, substituting a different one for it.

Switched it on and synchronization took just a few seconds and
there about two or three restarts. It finally settled so I plugged
in the Ethernet cable.

Opened my web browser and pointed it to the router and entered
my username and password.

Connection was made, When I finally twigged I was using the wrong
username. Job Done.

Ah...
Now *that's* where I would have done it a bit differently actually!
:-)

I would have Connected up the Router to the PC *first* (using either
the Ethernet Cable or the WiFi Utility) & then Accessed the Router
Admin Page (using a Web Browser) *before* even attempting to get the
Router Conencted to the Internmet (& before even Pluggin in the Phone
Line!
:-)

The idea being t oestablish that the Connection (between the Router
& the PC (either Ethernet or WiFi) is working Ok & properly *first*
- cos that's a completely *separate* thing from the Connection between
the Router & the ADSl Phone Line & ISP (Internet)

When people can "get their head" around tha tconcept, I think it
really does make life easier & also it's a *lot* easier to establish
where the probs are, when yo uhave any propbs.

Now I've got to see what lovely features there are that I can use,
so I've made the router one of my start up pages so I can twiddle.
(carefully).

LOL!
Have a look at the BT Voyager Site I Mentioned...
http://corz.org/comms/hardware/router/bt.voyager.205_router.how-to.php
http://corz.org/comms/hardware/router/other.bt.voyager.routers.php

That Site has *loads* of useful Information about BT Voyager Routers
(& the Info is also relevant (in many respects) to various other
Routers as well).

It's quite stable and I'm now syncing at 7040 kbps

Great!

But are you finding that your *actual* Download Speeds are well
under that at the mo?

... on the ethernet cable the wireless side I've disabled until
I have something to connect. Now I have an incentive to buy that
laptop.

LOL!
Yep!
& then you can have more "Fun & games", cos the WiFi Configuration
Utility on *that* will be different yet again!
:-)
