Sheesh it is amazing what people will tell. I'm afraid I'm the complete
opposite. I got a phone call the other day from BT, and refused to even
confirm my name but pointed them to their own web site warning about
hoax calls. Eventually I was convinced that it really was BT but still
refused to give them any answers 'cos as I told the caller, they had all
the info they needed about me in their records.
I had a phone call a few months ago claiming to be from my bank. When he
asked for my sort code to confirm my identity, I pointed out that *he*
called me, and asked him to prove his identity. He didn't. If he was
genuine (probably was) he would be in a call centre in the Clyde area.
I've had phone calls from my branch and they've never asked for confirmation
of identity beyond agreeing to my name - after all who else is going to be
answering *my* phone?
