It was lucky that you had another PC (Laptop) that you could get
Online with & use Skype to talk, wasn't it?
Otherwise you end up having to use an ordinary Phone (which usually
costs money)

Yes, that was handy

& NetMeeting is good for that sort of thing as well, cos then the
other person can actually *see* what's what with the PC - but
obviously if the PC won't even Boot Up (into windoze), you can't then
use Netmeeting on the "dead" PC, but Netmeeting can be used to "walk
through" the Steps on a working PC

Yes, must try that again some time. Used it with Noreen some time ago
when I was helping her with Paint shop pro but last time we tried we
couldn't get a connection.

Unfortunately, you can't actually do the BIOS stuff on NetMeeting,
cos you can only get to see the BIOS *before* windoze Boots up.

What Make (& Model) of PC is it, that you have?

Fujitsu Siemens P4 - Oh and it says Euroline on the tower

& have you had a good look (using windoze Explorer) on the Recovery
Disk?

What Files & Folders are on it?

Loadsa stuf including I386 folder, Docs folder, support folder,
setup.exe, various text files and CAB files, things like that

Yep, they always have various Warnings & Prompts, (before it actually
does the "Factory Recovery" so you can choose whether to go ahead or
not.

That is really good - Might go and have another look in there <g>

Great! Well done!

And well done to my friends in here for pointing me in the direction of
several bits of info on the web and to Boo for the talk through and hand
holding

Yes, it always helps to have someone on hand, who has done that sort
of thing before.
:-)

Sure does

Different PCs have differen tways of doing the Recovery &/or Install,
but basically, they are broadlky similar.

& when you've done it a few times, you get to know what thinsg should
be like & what differences there are, so you know what to look out
for, with different Setups.

Done it a few times? Are you suggesting I should go and fiddle in
there? <bg>

Well ,you don't seem to have very many (major) probs, do you?

That's true. Mostly it has been minor stuff that I have managed to sort
out myself. This was a bit more scary so thought I'd better ask a few
questions

P'raps you don't "Fiddle" enough with it!
:-)
If you want some probs to sort out, then do some more "Fiddling"
& "Adjusting"!
:-)

Ah, so you are suggesting I do some Fiddling :-))
