Isn't that what Plusnet are doing already or am I reading
everything wrong about their SUP ?
Nope! They're slowing everything down, full stop. At least, that's
how it seems from here most of the time i.e. 20-25 seconds for a six
line text post to open, sometimes having to try twice to get a post
down from their text server etc. :((
Oh dear!
Something *definitely* is wrong somewhere then. :-(
I don't think it's the PlusNet Servers that are causing
a 20-25 Second Delay!
If it was, everybody would be moaning about it.
Have you tried Running something like TCPView (Free) from:
http://sysinternals.com/Utilities/TcpView.html
To check what Connections are Open on your PC, when it attempts
to Fetch the News Posts?
& also, try something like AutoRuns (also Free) from:
http://sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html
To make sure that there's nothing Hogging the Processor.
Does your NewsReader have a Logging Facility?
If so, try turning that on, then looking through the Log, to see
where the prob is & what's causing it.
I know OutLook Express has a Logging facility.
Can you Set up the same News Server Name & Account details in
OutLook Express, then Enable the Logging Option in that?
Menu>Tools>Options...>Maintenance...

Log File
[/] News
[/] IMAP
[/] HTTP
[OK]
Then we can track it down & sort it out.
