Is being very silly this morning.

First thing I had 3 emails that just wouldn't come over to my Thunderbirs
Inbox. So I closed everything down and re-booted. They came over ok after
that.

But now Mailwasher is locked and I have to try again later. Grrrr

I run MW Pro 5 and TB version 1.5 (20051201) on XP(Home)SP2. If MW
stalls/chokes then try availing yourself of C-A-D three fingered salute to
bring up Task Manager. Select Mailwasher from application tab and END TASK.
Select PROCESSES tab and look for MailWasher.exe in list and RMB to select
end process tree if it's still running.

The fact you could access dessktop in order to close down means the problem
lies within application(s) and exceptions should be handled by explore error
handler and shutting down should be unneccessary.
Inspecting Event Logs may give some clues as to frequency and detail of
failures or coreq problems with TB but typically MW can cause probs once
it's internal databases are corrupted and sometimes when your ISP's email
server does not totally comply with some handshaking protocols or has
certain embedded content.

It may be relatively easy to repeatedly cure the symptoms(re-initialising MW
Db's) but would require more tedious (and possibly time consuming) indepth
diagnosis to identify a specific email (using webmail as an aid) that may
be potentially the root cause of sporadic MW hangs.
