......what's going on at 52*25'17N 1*37'32W then?

I dunno!
Go on then, tell us?

http://maps.google.com/?q=52.421390,-1.625555&t=h

http://www.freewebs.com/lord_craggle/Bird%20of%20prey3.kmz LOL

LOL!

Ah, but when you just Click a Link to a .KMZ File, the Browser
Fetches & Downloads the File, then hands it to Google Earth, which
Opens it up & displays what's in the *File*!

But a .KMZ File is actually a Zipped File...
& it can contain various different things...

In this case, there's actually a .JPG Picture (Overlay)...

Try Opening it (the .KMZ File) up as a .ZIP File (ReName it to .ZIP)
& then see what's actually in it...

There's a .KML (Keyhole Markup Language) File, which is actually
a Plain Text (Description) File in it.

& there's *also* a Folder (called "images") in it which actually
contains an *Overlay* Picture! Which is a .JPG File - BOP.JPG
(Bird Of Prey)

<quote of .KML File>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<kml xmlns="http://earth.google.com/kml/2.0";>
<GroundOverlay>
<name>Bird of prey</name>
<LookAt>
<longitude>-1.459286084628229</longitude>
<latitude>52.42130121403761</latitude>
<range>440.5152564417156</range>
<tilt>2.059320161122637e-008</tilt>
<heading>0.0121785777296573</heading>
</LookAt>
<Icon>
<href>images/BOP.JPG</href>
<viewBoundScale>0.75</viewBoundScale>
</Icon>
<LatLonBox>
<north>52.42194608440042</north>
<south>52.42078334645345</south>
<east>-1.457780246268357</east>
<west>-1.460752010456742</west>
</LatLonBox>
</GroundOverlay>
</kml>
</quote>

Now, try taking those Co-Ordinates - Latitude & Longitude -
& Locating them *directly* in Google Earth (or on the Google Maps
Website)...

http://maps.google.com/?q=52.42130121403761,-1.459286084628229&t=h

& you can see it's actually just a Plain Field!!!

& that's some distance away from the Co-Ordinates that you
originally Posted - which is a point about 7 Miles to the West
(& a few Yards slightly South) of the Location Pointed to by the
..KMZ File.

That's (one of) the clever things about Google Earth (& the .KML
Keyhole Markup Language)...

You can (or Websites like that one) *overlay* your (or their)
own Pictures (& Routes & even 3D Buildings & things) onto the
standard Satellite Image Views & Maps!
:-)
