Hello
Short Top post. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Just started to investigate as per below, got as far as checking
the display properties - white 160,0,240
I take it that is the Setting in th HSL (Hue Saturation & Lightness)
Boxes??
& that in the RGB (Red Green Blue) Boxes, it showed 255,255,255?
& that that Color was what was specified as the *Desktop*
Background Color? - That's the Color that shows up, when there's
no actual Picture (or Web Page) Set as the Desktop background
... all ok then noticed that application background = green
Ah!
Was that in the [Advanced...] Button on the "Appearance" Tab then?
& was it the same Green as you were complaining about?
.... changed this to white and Sygate crashed the system.
Oh dear!
:-(
It's a good idea to Set the Option so that it (the windoze Display
Properties Control Panel Applet) *Prompts* when you change the
Display Settings
Switch to the "Settings" Tab & Click the [Advanced...] Button on
there & Tick the Option...
(/) Ask me before Applying the new Display Settings
Wit hit Set that way, it then Pops up a Confirmation Box, which
counts down to Zero (from 15 Seconds)
If yo uDon't Click [OK] within that time, or if you Click [Cancel]
it then Reverts to the previous Settings
The idea is that if the Settings you Set make it so you can't see
what's on the Screen properly (or if some of the stuff is off the
Screen), it then Reverts.
... switched off and restarted and now hung on the "intel inside"
box and cannot do anything, not even switch off.
Which is odd!!!
Cos that's in the *BIOS* & nothing to do with windoze!!!
You should be able to Switch it off by Pressing & *Holding* the
On/Off Button on the Front of the PC, (rather than just Pressing
& Releasing it) but bear in mind that doesn't actually Power down
(Turn off) the whole Machine - it leaves Power to the Power Suppply
& Main MotherBoard (& thus some of the Peripherals)
Will switch everything off at the mains after closing down this
machine and start again.
You can also use the Power Switch at the Back of the Machine to
do that.
Also, it can be an idea to actually remove the Power lead, cos with some
Machines the Chassis Earthing needs sorting out.
(I know that can affect things such as the built-in Memory Card
Reader, if there's any Static around).
Will prob. take some time as the boss has decided to be unwell
and is horiz. or should I say hung?
Oh dear!
That's a nuisance isn't it?
will investigate later.
OK
I hope both "patients" get well soon.
