Grrr!!!!

I'm not sure what has happened but normally my homepage
is Google .Australia.
Now it is Firefox ( which I use).

Half of my bookmarks have disappeared as well!!!

Some *very* important ones!!

Sounds like your Firefox User Profile has been
Corrupted/Deleted/Renamed
Or at least the Setting which tells it where the stuff is has
been changed.

I've done a system restore to no avail.

windoze System Restore is *specifically* designed *not* to Save any
User stuff - it only Saves/Restores the actual Operating System
stuff, so it won't (& shouldn't) affect any of your own User Data
(such as Bookmarks etc,)

My backups are onto an external hard drive but it is only
My Documents and My Pictures I save automatically.

Grr!!!!!

Firefox (Like Netscape & Mozilla) actually keeps its own *Automatic*
Backup of your Bookmarks!

But (stupidly) it keeps them in the same Folder as the existing
Bookmarks!

So, do a Search for (or Navigate to) the Folder where it keeps your
stuff - usually that's in the Application Data Folder in your (windoze)
User Profile Folder (not the one in the Local Settings Folder of the
User Profile Folder).

The Application Data Folder may be marked as "Hidden", so you'll
have to make sure to have "Show Hidden Files & Folders" Enabled
in the (windoze) explorer Folder Options.

The Firefox/Mozilla User Profile stuff is stored within a Randomly
Named Folder in there.

Look for a File called "bookmarks.html (or something similar, which
is a Backup of it)

You can also Manually Backup the Bookmarks File (& also tell
Firefox/Mozilla to Store it somewhere more sensible, like in your
"My Documents" Folder), so it gets Backed up along wit hyour other
stuff.

Anotehr thing which may Help, would be to Find your original
(Internet Explorer) Favorites Folder.

When you Install Firefox/Mozilla, it offers to Import the existing
Internet Explorer Favorites - but it leaves them (the originals) there.
So Find that & at least you'll have your *previous* Favorites
back again.

When you've got it sorted out, make sure to keep a Backup of your
Favorites (Bookmarks in Firefox/Mozilla)
& it's also a *very* good idea (if they are important to you)
to *also* keep a Copy of it somewhere else, completely, such as on
your WebSpace or similar

Now Googling like mad to find certain sites again.

What about using the "History"?
That can be Searched, to find palces you've already Visited.

I've enough to do at the moment as we are snowed under with orders.

BTW

Little Tyke was on this pc for ages last
night.............................Hmmmmm????

LOL!
Yep
It was prolly down to her!

She may not have meant to screw it up for you, but accidents can
always happen, which is why you need to make sure that you know where
you Favorites/Bookmarks are Stored & that they are safely Backed up.
