I don't get any sound with Internet Explorer when I swap to Windows,
However I do get sound with Opera on Windows. Very Odd.

I dunno if I'm looking at the same Version of the page as you were,
But it *may* be cos that Sound that is put on the Page (using the
<embed> Tag) has a FileName of "bigben.wav" - notice the .wav File
Extension, & thus has a MIME Content-Type: Header of: "audio/x-wav"...

But it's actually a Sound File that has been Compressed (Encoded)
using an MP3 CoDec (11kHz Sample Rate, 1 Channel (Mono), giving
a BitRate of 20kbps)

windoze can handle .WAV Files encoded using MP3 like that one is OK,
usually, using it's own ACM (Audio Compression Manager) CoDecs & its
own Media Player, but not all other Media Players (such as the ones
used by some Web Browsers) & other Operating Systems can handle those
sort of (MP3 .WAV) Files OK.

Can you Play it OK, from the Direct URL to it?
http://www.btinternet.com/~wrinklie1/50/bigben.wav

& if so, what does it Play in?

I did say.

Also, what about when you Download & Save the File (as opposed to just
letting your Web Browser Play it in whatever it wants to)? - Which of
your different Media Players can Play it OK then?
Try Opening it up (the Saved File) in various different Media Players,
so you can see which ones can handle it OK & which ones can't.

Then see if you can Set that Media Player to be the one that Web
Pages use.

HTH

Not got any player but Quicktime. WMP plays the ok when I link direct to the
wav sound or open a saved version. Why won't it play in a page. I haven't
got Real Player on here yet. I hate having to fart about filling in the
bloody forms each timke I have to set it up.

XP Pro with XP2 fully up to date. Media Player 10.

Cheers.
