Him indoors with the over inflated ego mumbled something about "pons
asinorum" and then spouted a load of technobabble which I've tried to
paraphrase -

"A: Yes possibly. Depends - remember the keyword here is "attempts". This
was
ttypically the XP SP2 security update that remove the registry entry (from
default of
infinite) connection attempts per sec to 10 via a new tcp.sys stack entry
instead.
Depending on whether we have a SP1 or SP2 system here and what hotfixes and
raw sockets, firewalls have been implemented, along with tweaks to MTU
settings depends on how you approach/resolve this."

If you're seeing Event 4224/6 then you can research this yourself by
starting with, perhaps say:

PS: I just looked up "pons asinorum" but admit my schoolday geometry was
never upto much and this Mr Euclid seems to have been a naff teacher if he's
was always propositioning his students and leaving his postulates lying
around for any dumb numpty to trip over! ;-)
