Yep, but the prob he is describing (of going round in circles,
when trying to Log on to it) sounds pretty much the same as what
you described?
Any Proxy Server Settings (in the Application) aren't likely to
(be the) cause (of) an Authentication (UserName/PassWord) Error,
cos to get an Authentication Error, you (or he) would have to be
able to Connect OK to the Login Server, which if the Proxy Server
Settings (in the APplication) were wrong, wouldn't be happening.
It's all that sort of thing - logically & methodically working
through the sequence of Events (& Errors) that are happening -
that enables people to suss out where the prob is & thus how to
work around it.
> and usually I don't find passwords a problem,
No, but I know many "ordinary" people do have plenty of probs with
that sort of thing!

Exactly.
& the Application (or the Login Server or whatever) can't know
whether the reason you have Entered the wrong UserName/PassWord
(which thus doesn't match up with what they have in their
Database/Records) is just cos you forgot what the proper one was,
or simply Entered (typed) it wrong, or that you were someone trying
to gain Unauthorised Access - all it knows is that it doesn't match
up, so it says so.

OK.
I only asked, cos I saw that JRT had also Installed it & was
commenting about the Processor Usage of it.
I know he has a System that has a "Hyper Threading" Processor (like
mine does) & yours doesn't, so I was hoping that with the Info you
could have found out, by looking at it, that might have helped
various other people (not just Harry) who might want to Install
& use that Application, when they find that it's using up a whole
great load of their Processor's Processing time.

LOL!!!
Is that before or after you found that you "have reached my limit
for techy stuff today." ?

Well, I know how Applications such as that work on a System with
a Hyper Threading Enabled Pentium 4 Processor!
(Cos that's what I've got on this one) - I was just asking how
it showed up on a System such as yours, which doen't have a Hyper
Threading Processor.

Says she! - Being just about to embark on a Fresh Install of her
WinXP Operating System & Applications from a (saved copy of a)
Factory Recovery Image!
:-)
& Did it all go OK?
:-)
Didn't take too long, did it?
:-)
P'raps Sandra might decide that would prolly be a good idea to do,
with hers? - Now that she's had a chance to get acquainted with her
new PC & now that she knows a bit more about how she wants it all
Set up!
:-)
