System Commander doesn't do this. All it does is to keep a copy of the
key system files tucked away and then restore them depending on which
menu option is chosen. Older versions used to keep a separate folder
for each OS but I gather the newer version just tags an extra extension
on the end.

NO! SC picked up an Iomega Zip drive (for some reason they always
report themselves as having a primary partition, even when empty!) so
that spurious entry relates to the Zip drive.

NO! SC is working fine but is on C. After the second W98 install SC
spotted it and offered to add it to the menu but unfortunately that
offer was rejected! As a consequence the new installation boot files
over-wrote the old. However, SC still has copies and it just needs 5
minutes editing and they can be restored (HE has done part of this).

Yes but, no but! I thought we agreed before that if HE marks the
primary partition on D as active he will have problems un-marking C as
active? It doesn't need to be active for SC to boot it.

I would just do the bit of editing that is needed and get SC working
properly first, it's the only straightforward way of having 2 x W98
installs.
