I'm beginning to think you have got something against multiple W98
installations :-)
NT has always (at least since 3.51) given an option as to where to
install itself, and it is 'multiboot' friendly. However, in your method
you have just pinched the space needed for a primary partition for
W98!!! (unless, as previously discussed a boot manager is dealing with
it).
If you're in an experimental mood can you wipe the disk completely
(remove all the partitions), go through the process again but this time
create a primary partition and an extended partition using the XP
installer, and then install XP into a logical drive in the extended
partition. I have never tried that and it would be good to know if it
is possible.
I'd have a go but I've got a serious re-install due in the next few
days and some eBay purchases on their way I want to play with :-)
