Ben is a *very* good, handsome Black Lab!!! :-)

I just had a nice Session in the BikeSheds, with Ben's owner...
:-)

I dunno if Ben was actually there or not (keeping an eye on things
& learning how to use the PC & Skype & M$ NetMeeting etc,) - if he was,
he was as quiet as a Mouse!

Ben was ever so good - His Owner has obviously been training him very
well, cos he didn't try to Lick me at all!
:-)

We were talking on Skype (actually for the first time - previously,
we had just exchanged Skype Voicemails) & the idea was that we would
see if we could get his M$ NetMeeting working, through his Router,
so he could use it to Help get Jamie's PC all Set up & sorted out OK

Ben's Owner (that's Troy's Human) said he *had* tried using
M$ NetMeeting (a long time ago) but hadn't been able to get it
to work...

Anyway...
Those sort of probs should be able to be sorted out, so we had a go!

& yes, his Router was Blocking *Incoming* Connections, just like
it's s'posed to - so he couldn't *Receive* any Incoming NetMeeting
Calls (he could *initiate* a NetMeeting Call OK - He called me & it
all worked fine!)

So...
We had a look at his Router Admin Pages (I had never actually seen
that particular make of Router's Admin Pages before, but after all -
a Router is a Router!
They all do pretty much the same job, all that varies is what the
various Options are called & whereabouts in the Interface they are...

We found the NAT (Network Address Translation) Pages & then the Pages
to Set in the Port Forwarding, so that the Incoming stuff (from the
Internet) to the Router, would then get Forwarded to his Machine
properly & I tried Calling him...

& it worked!!!

He got the Incoming Call Alert on his Machine OK & he answered it,
then we checked that the Sound was working OK, which it was, both ways,
fine! & we tried doing the Desktop & Application Sharing & that worked
great as well!
:-)

All in all a good job well jobbed!
We were both well chuffed!
:-)

I hope that Ben *was* watching, cos then he'll be able to use the PC
& Skype & M$ NetMeeting as well.
:-)
