Maybe virtual machines are the answer
Vmware do a very good program to allow you to run
practically any OS within your existing windows
It's a very clever program that allocates hard drive space
as pseudo hard drive(s) which you can format and install
a wide range of OS's on
I've installed windows 3.1 up to xp on mine
It will take Linux without any partitioning
Even the unfriendly partitioning of BSD is not
a problem on a pretend hard drive
Press Alt Ctrl and you're in your 'guest' OS
repeat those keys to return to your current OS
You can get a taste of this virtual trickery by downloading the vmware
player
and the "browser application" which is a cut down version of Ubuntu Linux
from their site
