Why not?

The only way you will find out though, is to try it?

I think you've misunderstood what I was trying to explain?

It doesn't really matter about the BIOS in the Machine the Hard Drive
*came from*!!! - As far as whether or not you can use it to Boot up
on *another* (different) Machine...

Since that isn't the Machine that you're going to be using it, is it?

What matters is the Motherboard (& BIOS) on the Machine that you're
(now) going to be using it with!!! (the Laptop?)
It's *that* machine which determines whether or not any given Drive
will be able to Boot Up.
Some Motherboards & BIOSes can be Set to Boot from a USB Hard Drive
& others can't.

Have a look (in the BIOS) & try it?

You've already got a USB Hard Drive, haven't you?
You can try it with that, can't you?
If the BIOS (in the Laptop) Supporst Booting from a USB Hard Drive,
then there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to, with a different
Hard Drive, in a USB Caddy thing.

But either way, (whether or not you can actually Boot from it),
you'll still be able to use it jsut as a Hard Drive, for storing stuff
on, won't you?

Yep!
But it's worth while putting it to some use, isn't it?
Rather than just ditching it completely?
& it's prolly got some stuff on it that you may find useful,
or you might need (or want)?
