Yep, that's a *very* handy & very useful facility, that eMail Accounts
such as Freeserve/Wanadoo type Mail Accounts offer [*1].
I know many people say things like "Oh, that's far too complicated,
I don't want to get involved with all that sort of thing"
:-(
But they very soon learn that they *do* need to find out at least the
basics of it, so they can avoid having the eMail Address(es) that they
want to use for Friends & Family (& business?) swamped with junk & crap
& spam & viruses etc.
PlusNet Mail Accounts also work in a similar way - the Account Name
is the bit *after* the @ in the eMail Address & you can use whatever
you want as the UserName, before the @, which means you can avoid
getting spam & junk & crap sent to your "main" eMail Address(es)
& also Identify where any probs are, with "Leakage" of your eMail
Address(es)
[*1]
PlusNet Accounts *also* allow you to Set up additional actual
MailBoxes (on the Server) as well, whereas Freeserve/Wanadoo ones
don't.
If they already have a Freeserve (PAYG) Account, then yes, it may
well be a good idea to stick with Wanadoo for Broadband Connection?
I know several people who use Wanadoo for their Broadband Connection
& generally it all works fine.
It's not the very most cheapest, but it is competitively priced
& they allow a fair bit of Data Transfer (Bandwidth) & the price of
the modem & the Activation Fee is included in the Monthly Charge.
I also know lots of people who use PlusNet (for both ADSL Connection
& also for eMail only)- both firms seem fine to me, for most people's
normal purposes.
