M$N Messenger, surely?
Not windoze Messenger - windoze messenger is what you get on WinXP -
which works with the M$N Messenger System OK.

When any of us lot nip into the Bikesheds for a NetMeeting, we don't
use the system of ILS (Internet Location Service) Servers - they are
usually full of Pervs, Whores & Cranks!

We just call the other person up by their IP Address, which for people
on ISPs such as PlusNet is really dead easy, cos it's (based on) their
Plusnet UserName.

FN's is roseofwhite.plus.com

See above.
You bung in the IP Address (or the DNS Name of the IP Address) into the
DropDown thingy at the Top (or use the Menu>Call>New Call... Option)
Then Click the [Place Call] Icon [*1]

& NetMeeting attempts to Call it.

The other person then (if they have NetMeeting Running) gets an
"Incoming Call" Alert PopUp, which they can then Accept or Deny

[*1] I just found something out, that I didn't know already...
You can get the Dialog Box up, to Enter the IP Address (or DNS Name),
by Pressing the [Place Call] Icon as well as from the Menu, if the
DropDown Box is Empty - that is an MRU list & remembers the IP Address
(or DNS Name) of the last successfully placed call.
