Whilst I agree with most of the rest of what you wrote, I have to pick you up on this. "Couldn't get more time off" is not a good enough reason to go to A&E. That's neither an accident nor an emergency. You are entitled to time off work to take a child to a doctor when they need to go ( http://www.dti.gov.uk/er/timeoff.htm ).
and anyway, this 'lad' was probably 16 at least. -- Chris French .
