Get intouch with the company that sold the scooter to her. The reversing
bleep can be turned off by the engineer connecting a programmer to the
controller unit and telling the controller to switch off the bleep. Can be
done in a matter seconds. If they tell you it can't be done, then they are
lying, it most definitely can.
As for her being frightened of it, I know the feeling. My wife refused to
drive my Shoprider Cordoba, saying that it was much to big, a propper blokes
toy, not a girly machine. She now drives the Scoot Deluxe which, is infact
0.5 cm longer than and is doing really well on it. She was used to a Winner
4 and a Sunrise Medical Star+ in the past.
Practice does make perfect. Slow speedy is definitely the way to go. Perhaps
and this is the way I got the wife more used to the machines, is to tell her
that the pub is only just down the road and call in for a soft drink and a
packet of crisps. Now everytime we go out, she thinks all roads lead tot he
pub, especially since she can have an icecream as well.
