Re: Powerseller status

in good time prior to the conclusion of the contract the supplier
shall - provide to the consumer the following information - the
identity of the supplier and, where the contract requires payment
in advance, the supplier's address;

Assuming the seller hasn't registered with fake details, all that
information is emailed to the buyer automatically as soon as the
listing ends, which is prior to a contract being formed. The contract
is formed when the seller accepts the offer that is made by the buyer.
Nothing in that requires the seller to put their postal address in the
listing.

That's an interesting point of view, but not one that I think would stand up in court.

It assumes, for example, that all orders placed on eBay can be retracted at any point up to the buyer deciding (now he knows the full details of the contract) that he wishes to continue (or not) with the deal.

I suggest that this in entirely at odds with the eBay business model (bids are binding), the concept of "Unpaid Item" disputes, and so on.

In any event, those automatic emails [1] *don't* include the street address of the seller (as indeed neither do the "requests for contact information" that can be made via the eBay website). I have always wondered why that was the case.

[1] And while some eBay Invoices have seller addresses on, by no means all of them do.
