Seller has piss poor attitude to buyers then, doesn't he. But you'd know
all
about that. Seller also behaves in an unethical and unprofessional manner.
Which will probably bite him in the bum at some time Real Soon. It'd
actually be a great thing for EBay to add to their detailed feedback
markings.
So you would sell a £100 item for 50p just because you listed it in
the wrong week and it didn't attract enough interest? What if a
competitor used a couple of accounts to bid it up to £1000 so that
genuine buyers would move across to their identical item, then
withdrew their bids so that it went back to 50p? Would you still sell
it? Would you ***.
Please don't ascribe your habits to me. I have certainly had the first thing
happen several times. On each occasion, I have sold the item, and behaved to
the seller just as I would have if the widget had sold for many times the
amount. I've not had the second, yet - but I would still believe it both
morally and contractually incumbent on me to sell the item. If I choose to
list something at a low start - which I mostly do - then it is my choice and
my responsibility. I would not weasel out of a commitment. And, in the end,
what a thing sells for is its market price. I also choose to refund excess
postage, if the estimate is too high post sale. These are the same
principles - outstanding customer service and ethical behaviour - that I
used in commercial business, and they served me very well indeed.
